Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg Visits TOTAL Transportation and Engages with Drivers and Staff.

TOTAL Transportation was honored to host Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg last Friday, where he participated in a pre-trip inspection, a backing maneuver on the yard, and engaged in discussions with our team.

Secretary Buttigieg began his visit by walking through a thorough pre-trip inspection, highlighting the importance of safety and compliance in our operations. Demonstrating his hands-on approach, he then rode along with one of our experienced truck drivers to perform a backing maneuver, gaining firsthand insight into the skills and challenges faced by our drivers daily.

Following these activities, following these activities, Secretary Buttigieg and Acting Deputy Administrator Sue Lawless joined a round table discussion with several of our female drivers. The conversation focused on the unique challenges women encounter in the trucking industry, covering topics such as workplace safety, work-life balance, and career advancement opportunities. This discussion underscored TOTAL Transportation’s commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for all our drivers.

Before concluding his visit, Secretary Buttigieg took the time to meet and chat with several of our veteran drivers and staff members. His genuine interest and appreciation for their dedication and service resonated deeply with our team.
