April, the first full month of our new Hazmat pay program, showed an over 4 fold increase in new Hazmat endorsements for our drivers. Total Transportation of Mississippi currently has 470 drivers with Hazmat endorsements and of those 219 also have their tanker endorsements. Hazmat drivers now receive an additional 10 cpm on all loaded Hazmat miles along with their regular 1 cpm bump on all miles for having the Hazmat endorsement.

Total will pay a bonus and cover all expenses associated with Company drivers obtaining their new Hazmat endorsement, including all licensing, reissuance and background screening fees. Keep in mind Total’s hazmat loads are typically paint, cleaning supplies, or less volatile items.
