In accordance with Trucking Alliance, Total Transportation is supporting the development of “driver assisted” technologies which don’t dispense with the truck driver altogether but that “achieve safety performance levels that rival commercial airlines.”
Total Trucking and The Trucking Alliance support the following.
•Supports advanced driver-assisted technologies in commercial vehicles rather than commercial vehicles that rely solely on full automation
•Believes that commercial drivers are an indispensable asset to the safe operation of commercial vehicles
•Maintains the principle that commercial drivers are necessary to improve the safety and security of the general public, and
•Believes that commercial drivers are integral to supply chain accountability as well as managing unforeseen weather events, emergencies, detours, vehicle conditions, computer software programs, cyber security disruptions, cargo security and in providing efficient customer service.
Furthermore, Total and Trucking Alliance companies support regulatory and legislative proposals that if adopted could reduce truck accidents, injuries, and fatalities on our nation’s roadways.
Created in 2011, the alliance comprises the member companies Cargo Transporters of North Carolina; Dupré Logistics of Louisiana, JB Hunt Transport Services of Arkansas, KLLM Transport Services of Mississippi, Knight Transportation of Arizona, Maverick USA of Arkansas and US Xpress of Tennessee. Affiliation is by invitation.
Member companies operate more than 38,000 trucks 110,000 trailers and containers and employ 46,475.
