Total Transportation of MS, LLC has a job opening available in the Tractor Technician III at our Loudon, TN Terminal.

The qualified applicant will be capable of performing in depth diagnostic and repairs on engines, transmission, driveline, HVAC, electrical, suspension, brakes and air systems. The applicant will act as a mentor and trainer to Tractor Tech I and II’s as needed. Will accurately complete DOT forms and all other forms of documentation in timely fashion. Maintain a high level of productivity and be able to work within or better than SRT times. Repair/Replace bolt on body parts such as hoods and cab extenders. Must be consistently capable of independently analyzing and safely resolving mechanical problems. Check vehicle fluids; transmission, oil, windshield wiper, antifreeze, etc. and perform 90 day lease operator inspections.

High school diploma preferred and 5 years tractor required, 7 years preferred. DOT, AC, and brake certifications required. Prior drive train, OEM, ABS, ATC, and auto shift diagnostic experience preferred. Valid Driver’s License required and basic computer skills preferred. Must provide own hand tools (end wrenches, sockets, ratchets, etc).

Total Transportation of MS, LLC has a job opening available at our Loudon, TN Terminal: Technician I

The qualified applicant will perform basic or minor repairs and inspections on brakes, tires, wiring, as well as, preventive maintenance on tractors and trailers. Check vehicle fluids, transmission, oil, windshield wiper, antifreeze, etc. The applicant will also perform vehicle preventive maintenance (PM’s) as outlined in TTMS PM Guidelines. Maintain a high productivity level and complete most jobs within or close to SRT times. The applicant must be able to move equipment in and out of the shop. Repair air conditioning, including Freon, parts, compressor, and leaks. Perform routine DOT inspections. Perform open seat inspections to prepare tractor for next driver. The qualified applicant will also assist in transmission and engine diagnostic test and drive truck in and out of shop before and after repairs.

High school diploma preferred and 1 year tractor experience. DOT, AC, and brake certifications required. Valid Driver’s License required and basic computer skills preferred. Must provide own hand tools (end wrenches, sockets, ratchets, etc).

Total Transportation of MS LLC has a job opening available for a NIGHT DISPATCHER at our Jackson, MS location.

 
The primary duty of the Senior Night Dispatcher is to manage fleet coverage during extended hours by maintaining seated truck count, accurate driver PTA’s and keeping drivers’ turnover down. The senior night dispatcher will maintain a relationship with drivers and ensure on time service is met (address possible service issues in a timely manner while coordinating with Customer Service and Load Planning departments). Repower loads as needed. Promote safe operation by monitoring hours of service compliance. Ensure fuel and routing compliance during extended hours.

The qualified applicant should have a basic knowledge of US geography and the calculation of transit times across multiple US time zones and comprehensive knowledge of regulations impacting daily operations (DOT national and state).  
The qualified applicant must possess any combination of education or experience equivalent to a high school diploma. AS400 experience is preferred and proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel. Logistics experience preferred.

Total Transportation of MS, LLC has a job opening available for a Weekend Fleet Manager at our Jackson, MS Terminal.

The primary duty of the fleet manager will be to manage a fleet of designated drivers and tractors. The fleet manager will maintain relationships with dispatch, customer service, load planning, and driver payroll personnel to ensure company goals are met. In addition, the candidate will make capacity availability by maintaining seated truck count, accurate driver PTA’s, and keep driver turnover down; Ensure on time service is met and address possible service issues in a timely manner while coordinating with Customer Service and Load Planning departments. Repower loads as needed. Approve driver’s home time requests and serve as liaison between the driver and Load Planning to ensure freight is available for the drivers to get home on time. Provide accurate and detailed information regarding directions, load information, pick-up/delivery times and other special load related information.

Training will be available for a successful candidate. A college degree is preferred but work experience will be accepted in lieu of a degree. Basic computer skills are required, along with the ability to learn our daily transportation software applications. Must be motivated, possess a positive attitude and work as a team member in the department. Excellent people skills are a must. The shift for this position is Friday – Monday (6am – 6pm)

This position will ensure compliance with safety and environmental procedures and to assist in the achievement of profitability/productivity requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task with the appropriate balance of attention to detail and the ability to visualize the larger picture
  • Provide training in Safety related programs to in-house staff and drivers
  • Counsel drivers when necessary to assure safety, regulatory, and corporate compliance
  • Respond to on and off site accident investigations when required
  • Review preventable accidents/incidents, develop a correction action plan, and assign proper Remedial Training to influence driving behavior changes
  • Monitor facility and corporate compliance with mandated drug programs
  • Monitor, coordinate on site security services with the Terminal Manager
  • Follow-up on motorist complaints. Develop corrective action plans
  • Serve as Safety Department representative at Terminal meetings
  • Serve on rotation basis as On-call Safety Manager for after-hours issues
  • Coordinate issuance of Safety Awards for eligible drivers
  • Review inspections and citations submitted by drivers, develop a corrective plan to address noted violations and forward to corporate office for compliance.
  • Monitor progress of drivers and staff who have been assigned additional training
  • Develop and foster positive relationships with drivers and assist the organization in the resolution of issues that may arise
  • Maintain proper attendance and punctuality to ensure that the department is operated in an efficient and cost-effective manner.

 

Skills/Knowledge Required

  • Working knowledge of federal and state safety laws, particularly FMCSR & OSHA standards
  • Analysis and identification of risk trends, problems and solutions
  • Ability to coach, develop, and mentor other including ability to provide development experiences.

Education and Experience

  • Any combination of education or experience equivalent to a two-year degree
  • 4 years industrial or transportation management and/or safety management experience
  • Ability to write business correspondence and procedures manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and customers.

The Logistics Carrier Manager will be accountable for sourcing and procuring the carrier services that will physically move freight for the Company’s customers. Build effectively long-term strategic relationships with a variety of carriers to readily secure capacity as needed. Be responsible for developing and growing your carriers’ book of business.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Participate in carrier management processes, such as selection, qualification, or performance evaluation
  • Build relationships with both carriers and customers to become a key aspect of their operation
  • Make pick-up and delivery appointments that meet the needs of contracted carriers and customer requirements
  • Dispatch drivers to designated shippers, consignees, and intermediate stops if applicable.
  • Negotiate rates with carriers
  • Provide the Logistics Department with all information needed to properly execute logistic plans as determined by the carriers to ensure proper customer service is provided.
  • Maintain and further develop carrier relationships through daily communication
  • Assist in the development of new carriers
  • Communicate new carrier providers opportunities to Logistics Accounts Manager and Operations
  • Work directly with account managers to ensure customer expectations are met.
  • Track and trace all brokered shipments in a timely manner and report service delays to management.
  •  Update shipment statuses in multiple software platforms with accurate data in a timely manner.

 

Job Requirements

  • College degree in business or transportation field is preferred.
  • 1-2 years of Sales, Marketing or Customer Service experience preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience working in a deadline driven environment
